Former City favourite Carlos Tevez ended Roma’s 100% start to the Serie A season with two goals for Juventus in a top-of-the-table clash in Turin.

In a feisty encounter that saw seven players booked and two sent off, Roma lost the lead to allow the Old Lady to move three points clear at the top of the table, preserving their own 100% record in the process.

During a pulsating game, Tevez put Juventus ahead from the spot on 27 minutes, but the ‘Old Man’ – Francesco Totti – levelled from the spot just five mutes later.

When Juan Iturbe made it 2-1 just before the break, it appeared as though Roma were once again on their way to victory, but Tevez struck from the spot again three minutes into first-half added time to make it 2-2 and send the teams in level.

It seemed as though the spoils would be shared, but there was to be an explosive finish to the game as Leonardo Bonucci grabbed a dramatic winner for the hosts with just four minutes of normal time remaining

There was still time for both teams to be reduced to ten men as first Alvaro Morata was given his marching orders on 88 minutes for Juventus and then Roma’s Konstantinos Manolas followed shortly after but Juventus held on for three precious points.

There was no such drama in the Bundesliga where Bayern Munich had a run-of-the-mill 4-0 win over Hannover 96 at the Allianz.

Two goals from Robert Lewandowski and another from Arjen Robben put the league leaders 3-0 up at the break with Robben adding a late fourth to put Bayern four points clear at the top of the table.

CSKA don’t play again until 18 October as they enjoy a short break in the Russian season – they remain in second spot in the Premier League.
