Fernando picked up a knock against Stoke in City’s last Premier League game and picked up a further injury in training, sidelining him from tomorrow’s trip to Arsenal as well as the crucial games against Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Pellegrini admitted losing the former Porto man was a major blow, saying: “He has a problem and he could be out for two weeks - we will see but it is a blow.”
Stevan Jovetic has also been ruled out of the trip to the Emirates. The Montenegro striker returned home early from international duty after tweaking his hamstring and won’t feature against Arsenal.
Pellegrini revealed: “Stevan won’t play against Arsenal but I am hoping he will be OK next week.”
The City boss also said that Frank Lampard and Eliaquim Mangala are both in the squad to face the Gunners.
