City will host Newcastle in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

Following the thumping 7-0 win over Sheffield WednesdayManuel Pellegrini‘s side will continue their challenge to retain the trophy with a home tie in the competition against the Premier League outfit.

The clash sees the two teams lock horns for the second time this season, as the champions ran out 2-0 winners at St James’ Park on the opening day.

On that occasion, goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero secured a blue victory.

Newcastle reached the fourth round, having notched a 1-0 win away at Gillingham before defeating Crystal Palace 3-2 after extra time.

City last faced the Magpies in the League Cup last year, sweeping into the quarter finals following a 2-0 win, thanks to Alvaro Negredo and Dzeko after extra time.

Of course, the Manchester outfit also emerged victorious against the Toon in the final of the competition when they lifted the trophy with a 2-1 win at Wembley in 1976.
