The Blues recorded their ninth consecutive Premier League victory with a 2-0 win over Everton, but Hart believes the six games from the last campaign means that the run doesn’t really mean that much outside the record books.
“We’ve come a little way and it’s good to equal a Club record, but six of those nine wins were last season and that’s gone and in the past now – we’ve made those mistake and we’re starting again, now. We want to be winning nine in a row this season,” said the City keeper.
We’re a hungry team and we appreciate it’s a long season but it’s really important to start well and finish well
...Joe Hart...
“We have made a good start but that’s all it is at the moment and there are a lot of games to come. A lot of our players have started well and Aleks is one of them and he took his goal really well so we’re going in the right direction.”
In reference to the free-kick from Romelu Lukaku that brushed the crossbar, Hart was typically self-critical. “I moved early and I got away with it – I didn’t have a good game today but it’s another clean sheet and we defended really well as a team and I’m benefiting from it because we’re making it difficult for teams to get anywhere near our goal and I appreciate the standard of defending in front of me.”
Aleks Kolarov also underplayed his role in the win over the Toffees, adding: “I’m just doing what I’m paid to do and as a team, we’ve made some great performances so far this season but we have to go game-by-game and keep our standards high – we think we’re the best team in the Premier League but we need to show that every time we play.
“For me, it’s very easy to play with Raheem Sterling and David Silva – they are clever players and they create space for me to run into and I just try to do my best with the passes they provide.”
