Eliaquim Mangala believes City have bought wisely during the close season.

The France international has had the opportunity of seeing his new team-mates up close during pre-season training and during the Blues’ friendly matches and he reckons each player will bring something new to the squad.

However it is England forward Raheem Sterling who has particularly impressed Mangala after coming up against him in training. He believes the former Liverpool man will get better and better and says he is a handful already without having his full match sharpness yet.

“Sterling has the ability to change a game and you could see that even though we didn’t play so well against Stuttgart, he still made two goals late on – and that’s when he’s not fully match fit or at his sharpest,“ he said.

Imagine what he will be able to do when he can do for us when he is at his best?

...Mangala #20...

I think he will make and score a lot of goals and that can only help this team in our quest to win trophies. He is very quick, has great technique and I think he will be a very important player for us.

“I think we’ve bought really well so far this summer. We’ve brought in three players who are all English and know the Premier League well and what is required to succeed.

“Patrick Roberts is young and may have spent last season in the Championship, but he knows what the Premier League is all about and the spirit needed to do well – all of which is good for us.

“Sterling and Fabian Delph are more experienced and both well versed in the demands of this league. Delph’s injury means he hasn’t trained as much but I know what a good player he’s been over the past few years.

“Delph and Sterling will be able to slot straight in whereas Roberts will probably need more time, gaining experience here and there.”
