Part one of the Champions League for City is complete now as they eagerly await Monday’s round of 16 draw, but what is the story of the group stage in numbers?

We teamed up with Opta to bring you ten telling stats from City’s Champions League group stage campaign…

531 – Minutes played by Joe Hart.

Hart has been involved in all six games and nearly completed every minute, but suffered an injury late on in the away defeat to Juventus and was replaced by Willy Caballero.

60,048 – Metres covered by Fernandinho.

The Brazilian covered the most distance for City in the group stage, closely followed by Yaya Toure who covered 58,829m of ground in his six games.

3 - Number of goals scored by Raheem Sterling.

The England international’s brace against Borussia Monchengladbach took him past Wilfried Bony in second place with two goals.

2 – 90th minute winners for City in the group stage.

City reminded fans why you should always stay until the end of the games as they won away at Monchengladbach and at home to Sevilla with last minute goals from Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne respectively.

15 – Chances created by Kevin De Bruyne.

Our number 17 leads the way for City in this category by beating Sterling to top spot by three. De Bruyne also leads the category in Group D, with Monchengladbach’s Raffael just behind with 14.

91.41 – Percentage of passes completed by Martin Demichelis.

The Argentine defender leads the way for City ahead of fellow defender Eliaquim Mangala. Demichelis ranks third in the Group D list with Sevilla’s Adil Rami and Timothee Kolodziejczak ahead of him.

312 – Successful passes by Toure.

The towering midfielder showed his quality during the group stage by picking out City players over 300 times, only bettered by three in Group D by Kolodziejczak.

19 – Tackles by Fernandinho.

The midfield maestro dominates another category in our list. He leads the way for City and in Group D with 19 tackles, Nicolas Otamendi was closest to the Brazilian with 15.

11 – Seconds before the end of normal time when Aguero scored in the 2-1 win at Monchengladbach.

Aguero was brought down in the penalty area by Fabian Johnson late on and he slotted home his penalty just before the end of normal time. Five minutes of additional time were indicated by the fourth official but City were able to hold on for the three points.

64.6 – Percentage of possession City had during the 2-1 away win at Monchengladbach.

This was the highest amount of possession City had in any of their Champions League Group D games.
