George Evans had a Christmas to remember as he helped Walsall to the summit of League One.

He continues to impress during his loan spell with the League One side, playing his part in both of their victories over the festive period.

The 21-year old played 90 minutes in both games and was part of a Saddlers side that picked up the three points at Millwall on Boxing Day before adding Walsall’s second goal in the 2-0 win over Peterborough on 28 December.

The close range strike means Evans has now scored four goals in his loan spell with the Midlands club after joining them in late October, leading to interest from Championship clubs.

The Express and Star reported in mid-December that three Championship clubs were keen on getting the youngster on a temporary deal and his performances in recent weeks will no doubt have increased that number.

Elsewhere in England, Ian Lawlor had a mixed Christmas at Barnet with one win and one defeat in League Two.

Got my Xmas present today, a clean sheet!! Great win today lads were class also to the fans , another win! @BarnetFC ⚽️🎅🏼

The Ireland U21 international kept a clean sheet on Boxing Day against Newport County as the Bees picked up the three points with a 2-0 win before Lawlor saw his side lose 2-1 at Cambridge United on 28 December to leave them 18th in League Two.

Bruno Zuculini didn’t feature for Middlesbrough over the festive period as their Boxing Day clash away at Blackburn was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and then he was an unused sub in their 1-0 home win against Sheffield Wednesday in their second festive fixture.

In Belgium, Enes Unal was an unused sub for Genk on Boxing Day as they lost at R. Charleroi S.C.

Our other players on loan are enjoying a short break during the festive period with the French, Dutch and Italian leagues taking their annual winter break.
