There’s a late Christmas present for supporters to look forward to on Boxing Day when we will reveal the design of our new badge.

The badge design, which was entirely influenced by the feedback of Cityzens supporters during a 30-day consultation period, will be unveiled ahead of the home game against Sunderland.

In addition, we have updated the original consultation pod at the Etihad Stadium City Square and we’re inviting Cityzens to be the first to see the badge in the hours prior to kick off in a further exclusive opportunity for supporters on our membership scheme.

The consultation process revealed an overwhelming desire among Cityzens to evolve the badge with a round design, as used in two of the Club’s three previous crests, emerging as by far the most popular shape.

Only one third of supporters were keen to retain the existing badge shape.

In the past few days the Club has released a series of images in key supporter sites in and around the city of Manchester, which give clues as to some of the elements contained in the new badge.

However, it is only on Boxing Day that all constituent symbols and their interrelationships will be revealed.

Kevin Parker, General Secretary of the Official Supporters Club said: “‘I have been so impressed from the outset with the club’s approach to this entire badge project.

“There are not many clubs that would seek fans’ views on such a central issue and there are even fewer, if any, that would then commit to respond so faithfully to the feedback received.

“I can’t wait for this badge to be revealed and for it to become a cherished symbol in the next phase of our evolution.”

Match-going Cityzens wishing to view the new badge arrive at the New Badge exhibition space by City Square from 1pm on Boxing Day with proof of their Cityzens membership.

Can’t get to the Etihad Stadium? Don’t worry, we’ll send you a link to our preview exhibition on the day. It’s the next best thing to being there in person!

The badge will be launched in Summer 2016 ahead of the 2016-17 season.
