Jack Butland and Joe Hart face off at the Britannia Stadium and both will be hoping to keep up their excellent form in the first third of the season.
It’s been said that the Stoke ‘keeper is finally exerting pressure on his City counterpart for the England no.1 jersey but how do their numbers compare?
It’s a tight-run thing, as you can see below…
Games played
Butland has been an ever-present in the Potters line-up since Asmir Begovic left for Chelsea in the summer, while Joe missed the 4-1 loss to Spurs at White Hart Lane and the 4-1 win over Southampton last weekend.
Butland 14
Hart 12
Clean sheets
No goalkeeper in the Premier League has more shut-outs than Joe although West Brom’s Boaz Myhill comes close with six. Hart has kept clean sheets in 58.3% of his appearances and that number dramatically increases when Vincent Kompany plays in front of him.
Butland 5
Hart 7
Goals conceded
City have actually conceded the same number of goals as Stoke but Joe wasn’t on the field for five of his team’s concessions.
Butland 14 (1.0 per game)
Hart 9 (0.75 per game)
Saves
With Stoke 11 places behind City, perhaps it’s no surprise that Butland has been the busier of the two stoppers but he possesses a phenomenal save % record…
Butland 54
Hart 21
Save percentage
Joe’s save percentage is very healthy indeed but, as referenced above, his England teammates’ is ridiculous…
Butland 79%
Hart 70%
