You only have to log onto Twitter for a few seconds to discover that football in 2015 is a serious business.

However, just occasionally, humour can be found between the lines and here at City we’re more eager than most to home in on the lighter side of the beautiful game.

Here are our top ten moments when hilarity ensued in and around the club over the last 12 months…

You’re making me dizzy…

At half-time of City’s victory over West Brom, two fans were invited onto the pitch for a “dizzy penalty competition”.

No further setting up required for this one, just sit back and enjoy… if this doesn’t draw at least a smile to your face, check your pulse.

Delph’s Dive

Our best performance of 2015? I reckon so, and wrote as much in my top five moments of the year elsewhere on the site.

Following this famous win at Sevilla, Fabian Delph delighted the away contingent with an unexpected flourish at the end of his warm-down.

Over to the judges… 10s across the board.

Boring James Milner’s Christmas List

Did you know: 15 minutes of laughter a day burns 10 to 40 calories?

For that reason, this year’s MCFC YouTube Advent Calendar is 100% better for you than chocolate and it’s delivered the goods on that front in spades.

Perhaps the best moment (so far), was when James Milner gave Joe Hart a call when he was riding in Chappy’s Taxi to training.

Once again proving he’s more than up for self-parody, the former City midfield riffed on his “Boring James Milner” alter-ego and delivered his Christmas list…

“We Glow in the Dark…”

Over to you, the fans, for a moment that made us do all the lols this year.

City were wearing the new ghost green illuminous away kit for the very first time for our Capital One Cup tie away to Sunderland.

We were soon in a 4-0 lead when supporters cooked up a chant which tickled our funny bones.

“We are Man City, we glow in the dark…”

Kudos and a *hat tip*...

14. "We're Man City - we glow in the dark!". The travelling #mcfc faithful are already taken by the lads' new threads. #mcfc

Yaya and The Dress

It was the dress that everyone was talking about… (for 24 hours, at least), but was it black or gold?

We asked the players back in February and Yaya Toure’s furious reaction went viral.

Skip to 2:33 and relive the Ivorian’s memorable rant.

Hart stopper

It takes something special to scare Joe Hart…

Scientists estimate that a baseball moves at around 103mph after making contact with a bat so it’s little wonder that England’s no.1 let out a little shriek at the home of the Toronto Blue Jays on City’s post-season tour.

KDB’s corner...

An instant classic.

Laughs, or even smiles, were pretty hard to come by on Monday night when City visited the Emirates Stadium but there was one comic moment to take in.

Kevin De Bruyne is one of world’s most technically gifted footballers but this wasn’t his most graceful moment

Manuel and the Koala

In the manager’s first press conference after City touched down in Australia for their pre-season tour, he was asked if he would like to hold a koala bear during his time Down Under.

Pellegrini laughed but probably didn’t imagine that the journalist’s question would become a reality on the Gold Coast as Manuel met Kialgum the Koala at the team hotel.

Kialgum’s name translated from Aborigines? Champion. Let’s hope it was a bear-based premonition!

Hollaback Girl…

Poor Natasha Harding became a viral hit after she was struck in the face with a ball following MCWFC’s final game of the season.

Thankfully, the Wales international took it in typically good humour.

Hart the Roman conqueror…

On that same tour, City drew Roma 2-2 in the International Champions Cup at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

That took the game to penalties and Joe Hart settled the contest in definitive fashion with his hands and with a lash of his boot.

Less funny than unusual, I grant you, but still a moment worth revisiting.…

Here’s hoping 2016 delivers a similar bounty on the laughter front…
