The striker, who has scored in both Group B games so far, suffered a blow to his shoulder in the victory over Uruguay on Wednesday night and had been rated as “doubtful” for Argentina’s final group game in Vina del Mar.
Kun was replaced in the closing stages of the win but he has trained normally this week and is in line to attempt to continue his red hot scoring streak.
The 27-year old has now scored six goals in his last four games for his country, including a brilliant diving header in the narrow win over Uruguay which put Gerardo Martino’s men joint-top of the group.
Pablo Zabaleta, who set up that goal, said of Aguero: “Kun is in an extraordinary moment.
“He had a great season at club level and finished as the top scorer in the Premier League. He has also had a great start to the Copa America.
“His injury is nothing too serious, but they will have to take the necessary precautions to see if he will be ready in time.”
Zabaleta made his first appearance at this summer’s tournament against Uruguay, providing his usual lung-busting coverage of the right flank.
Although Jamaica have lost their two group games to date, Pablo has warned that the World Cup finalists must be 100% focused if they are to qualify for the quarter-finals in top spot and gain a preferential draw.
“We have a squad of players with so much quality,” he told journalists.
“Especially in midfield and attack. We have players who create many goalscoring chances and who are excellent finishers. We need to close games out and finish off our rivals, but we know we have a wealth of talent in attack and we are very lucky to count on those footballers.
“We have to be totally concentrated for Jamaica - maybe they have no chance of qualifying, but we are taking this match just as seriously as the last two and we want to achieve our objective of finishing first in the group.”
