Manager Manuel Pellegrini says City are ready and refreshed for one of the most crucial spells of the season.

The champions take on Burnley and West Brom in the Premier League either side of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Pellegrini has a fully fit squad to select from for the Clarets game and is planning a spring offensive.

“The break was very useful,” he said.

“We played games without the result we wanted against Barcelona and Liverpool.

“After that we played against Leicester, when we didn’t play very well but earned an important victory.

“After that it was a good break for the players. We worked very well and we are going to have now two weeks without a day off thinking about the three games we must play.”

City have already been stung by Burnley this season in the game at the Etihad Stadium, where the champions led 2-0 only to be pegged back for a 2-2 draw.

With the Barcelona Champions League game looming over the horizon Pellegrini was quick to remind his players that focus is crucial at Turf Moor.

“We must focus our minds in the game,” he said.

“It’s important for the whole squad to approach this as a difficult game. We must not think about what happened in the past in other moments or what will happen in the future in the Champions League.

“It is very important for the squad to just focus our minds on one game.”

Pellegrini also had words of praise for Martin Demichelis after the Argentinian defender penned a contract extension this week.

He added: “I think that Martin is a very important player for our squad. He has had a very good performance last year and this year. He is experienced and an important leader, I think it is very good news for him and the club because he is happy here.”
