The England number one, making his 300th appearance for the Club, was called into action on a number of occasions against Saints but was solid as ever as City ended the season on a high at the Etihad Stadium.
Elsewhere Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet and Swansea’s Lukasz Fabianski failed to keep clean sheets, while Fraser Forster’s injury meant he could not match Hart.
City’s goalkeeper has been in stunning form this season producing a string of superb performances.
He pulled off arguably the save of the season against Swansea in the penultimate game, diving at full length to deny Federico Fernandez.
Time and again the 28-year-old has thwarted opponents this season and he will now head out with City’s post-season tour before linking up with England for their June internationals against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.
Hart told the crowd after the game: “Apologies we didn’t bring any silverware but we’ll be back next year. I’m immensely proud to make 300 appearances for this club.
“I’d like to thank all of you, Willy (Caballero) has been fantastic ever since he walked through the door, Richard Wright as well, the boss and the boys.”
