City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad on Saturday evening and key battles will be occurring all over the pitch.

One of the high profile battles will be Kevin De Bruyne and Philippe Coutinho, but how do they compare to each other in the Premier League this season?

De Bruyne has performed consistently for City and has been extremely popular with the fans after joining from Wolfsburg at the end of August.

He’s featured eight times in the Premier League, starting seven games and coming on as a substitute against Crystal Palace for his debut. His first goal for the club came in his third game against West Ham and he has added another two to his tally in the Premier League with strikes against Spurs and Newcastle United.

How do you think Kevin De Bruyne will perform on Saturday? Let us know on Twitter.

Coutinho has made three more appearances in the top flight of domestic football in England, due to De Bruyne’s late arrival, and has one more goal than the Belgian international.

The 23-year old has three goals in the last two games in the Premier League, but his minutes per goal ratio is higher than De Bruyne.

City’s number 17 averages a goal every 217 minutes in the Premier League, whilst Coutinho averages one every 233 minutes.

De Bruyne also beats the Brazilian in the assists column as well. He’s set up four goals this season compared to Coutinho’s two, an average of one every 163 minutes to the Liverpool midfielder’s one every 465 minutes.

As well as receiving high praise from the City faithful, De Bruyne has been applauded from all sections of the media including WhoScored.com.

The football statistics website has the Belgian down for a 7.50 average rating for his Premier League exploits this season, whilst Coutinho has achieved a 7.20 rating for his 11 games.

It’s not just on the pitch that the two have been praised. The video game FIFA 16 has chosen both De Bruyne and Coutinho to be ‘in-form’ cards for their game mode ‘Ultimate Team’ in recent weeks, with City’s attacking midfielder having two and Coutinho having one.

De Bruyne’s recent exploits for his national side saw him awarded a ‘super in-form’ card this week with an increased rating of two (88) from his normal card (86).
