It should be a great game and one I’m looking forward to – of course, there is no margin for error in the Champions League but this is a very important match for us

“We will go there well prepared, focused and our sole objective is to return with three points. We are an attacking team so as defenders, we have to do our job because we know if we do - with the quality of players we have in attack - a goal will come sooner or later.”

Fresh from scoring his first goal for the Blues at the weekend, the Argentinian believes joining City will make him a better defender and admits the competition for places is bringing the best out in him.

“It’s very competitive here bit in a good way,” he said. “We have some top defenders in our squad such as Kompany, Demichelis and Mangala and for me it’s a pleasure to train and work with them because I learn on a daily basis from each of them.”
