Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that three of his squad are back in contention to play against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
Wilfried Bony, Kelechi Iheanacho and Eliaquim Mangala will all return to the squad list after missing the last few weeks.
However, there will still be five players missing for the home side in the final game before the October international break.
Pellegrini confirmed in his press conference: “Vincent Kompany, Clichy, Delph, Nasri and Toure are injured. Mangala is on the squad list and so are Kelechi and Bony.
“Kompany’s calf is still injured – we’ll see if he’s fit after the international break.
“It’s not been a normal situation to have so many injuries – against Sunderland we had 11 injured, then it’s been seven or eight. I hope after this break, most of them will be fit.
“I never complain about the players who can’t play. I don’t think that one name can change the performance of this team. We also win a lot of games without Vincent.
“He’s an important player for us of course – we hope we will play again soon of course.”
City face a Newcastle side who are likely to be buoyed by their 2-2 draw against champions Chelsea last time out.
Manuel pointed to this performance, as well as the Magpies’ goalless draw at Old Trafford, as evidence that his team will be in for a tough test at the Etihad Stadium.
“We always expect to win at home but away also,” he said.
“We want to win everywhere. We have to play in the same way, in the same style.
“Tomorrow we have a tough game against Newcastle. They played very well against Chelsea and here in Manchester against United.
“We are not thinking of the top of the table at this moment – just to have a strong performance. It’s important to be at the top in May.
“We know we are going to have eight or nine players defending so we have to create the space.”
Finally, on the win over Borussia, Pellegrini stated his belief that the nature of the performance proved that City have the personality to succeed both at home and on the continent.
He added: “We have a strong team with strong character, in Europe and the Premier League.
“It was very important to win as it’s difficult to qualify with no points from two games. Maybe we didn’t deserve to lose against Juventus and maybe we only won against Borussia with a late goal.
“It’s not easy to come from a goal down and play the way we did in the last 15 minutes.”
