Here’s a brief reminder why the trio are up for the monthly prize...
Kevin De Bruyne
A superb start to life with City, De Bruyne has slotted seamlessly into Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The Belgian played in all six matches during September, scoring three goals and playing a part in several more. His passes and range of crosses have added a new dimension to the City attack and he will hope to win an Etihad award at the first attempt.
While September wasn’t a fantastic month for the Blues, Yaya Toure continued his impressive start to the season with several fine performances. Solid at Crystal Palace, Yaya battled hard against Juventus and was superb against West Ham - though ultimately in vain - and was again in fine form at Sunderland and, up until he picked up an injury in the defeat to Tottenham where he also claimed an assist.
Fernandinho
With back-to-back nominations, Fernandinho will hope to go one better than last month’s second place. The Brazilian didn’t add to his goal tally but was an integral part of the side that won three and lost three in September.
Voting closes at noon on Wednesday, 14 October. Correct UK entrants will be entered into a draw with the winner presenting the player with the award in person - check out last month’s winner presenting David Silva, no less!
