City’s Belgian playmaker believes the Blues should never curb their normal attacking instincts, no matter who the opposition is.
The last gasp hero of last night’s win over Sevilla also revealed he has played at Old Trafford once before, but it wasn’t a particularly memorable occasion.
“I’ve played there once before with Chelsea – it was 0-0 and not a great game!” smiled De Bruyne.
“I think we just have to go there and play our own game and not change a thing – we are an attacking team so I don’t think we should change our way of playing for anyone.”

“We shouldn’t play defensive because our main strength lies going forward, though we need to stay disciplined.
“We know it will be difficult. Man United have been a top team for a long time and the rivalry between us and them obviously runs deep, but the season is very long – that said, we know what it means to our supporters and it would be nice if we could go there and get three points.
“If you win it’s nice for everyone and that’s what we’ll be trying to do. If you take a point or even lose, it’s not ideal but there are still almost 30 games to go so this result won’t be the deciding factor in who wins the title. There are still many points to be won and lost in the coming months.”
De Bruyne admits things have gone better than he’d dare hope in the first six weeks of being a City player with only disappointment being the defeats suffered so far.
“It probably couldn’t have been much better – the only thing that would have improved things would be if we’d won more matches. We lost three and won five of my first eight games but we’re getting back on track. It’s like the old saying – some you win and some you lose – you just have to try and win more than you lose.
“I’m really happy here at City. Everything is going really well for me at the moment. I had a lot of things to do when I arrived being a new player but even that’s gone well and I’m looking forward to the future here.
“It’s a nice feeling when you have the support behind you like I’ve had in this first five or six weeks, but I need to keep working hard for the team and hopefully that will continue.”
