However, the manager is confident that the injury to his captain is not serious and said that Vincent may be in contention to return against Spurs a week on Saturday.
Pellegrini also revealed that Nasri will miss Saturday’s game due to an injury picked up in the midweek defeat to Juventus.
There was better news on the Aguero-front as Manuel told journalists that the Argentine is now 100% fit to start.
“Vincent is not fit for the game. Zabaleta, Clichy, Delph also and Nasri had a kick in the last game. He’s not 100% for tomorrow.
“We didn’t concede any goals in the first five games so it’s important to play with the same team as much as you can. I never complain about the players we don’t have though as that’s why we have two players for every position.
“For Vincent, it’s a calf injury – he won’t be involved against Sunderland but we’ll see for Spurs. We’re lucky as we have other leaders inside the team – we have Yaya or Joe Hart or Otamendi or Silva – we have players who can assume the role of captain in the team.
“Pablo needs one more week more with the physio. I hope at the end of this month he will be OK. Sergio has recovered well from his injury and is 100% for tomorrow.”
Manuel hinted that, like on Tuesday night, it would be Nicolas Otamendi to step in for the skipper.
He backed the new signing to shine in the absence of Vincent and also declared that Martin Demichelis will get his chance after his excellent end to the previous season.
“It’s important for Otamendi to show why he’s here and for Demichelis to play again after doing so well,” he argued.
“Otamendi has been working with our team the last three weeks maybe not so many times as we would have liked but he’s an experienced player and he must have an option in this moment.
“I hope he will have a good performance.
“Martin finished very well last season – he’s an important leader for this team. We have to play on Saturday and Tuesday.”
Kevin De Bruyne is another new signing yet to feature for City from the start in a game yet this season.
Pellegrini revealed that the Belgian is fitting in seamlessly in training and is ready to take his chance.
“De Bruyne is adapting quickly to our system,” he said.
“I’m very happy with him – it’s the same as Raheem as in we now have a player we didn’t have last season who gives another option to our squad.
“We’ll see tomorrow what our starting line-up is.”
West Ham arrive at the Etihad Stadium hoping to spring another away day shock on the early season pace-setters.
Slaven Bilic’s side have already beaten Arsenal and Liverpool away from home this season and Pellegrini insists he will warn his side not to leave space to counter into when attacking.
He added: “West Ham are doing very well, especially away. It’s not luck to beat Arsenal and Liverpool – we must be careful.”
