Silva voted Etihad Player of the Month

The Blues’ midfield play-maker beat off strong competition from Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho for the first award of the season after a series of stellar performances during the first few weeks of the campaign which included one goal and three assists.

Silva, an almost constant name on the Etihad short-list, was also nominated for the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award along with team-mate Aleksandar Kolarov, but was pipped by Swansea City striker Andre Ayew.

David will be presented with the award by one lucky voter next week.
