Fernandinho says a change of mind set and playing style is behind City’s perfect start to the season.

The Brazil midfielder has been integral in the performances that have left the Blues three points clear at the top of the Premier League with only four games played.

With a more positive, vibrant atmosphere in the dressing room, he says the cobwebs or a largely disappointing 2014/15 campaign have now largely been blown away.

“Everyone, from the very first game onwards, has changed completely from last season,” said Ferna. “This is good because we have played four games, not conceded a goal and scored 10 goals. It’s always good when you play well, win games and the fans are happy.

Fernandinho celebrates his goal against Chelsea

“We’ve brought I some great players. The team has started very well and now with new players we have a chance to grow and hopefully this can continue when we take on Crystal Palace this weekend.

It will be a tough, difficult game. If you look back at their last game, they beat Chelsea away which is one of the toughest places to go

“They have a great squad with great players and last year we went there and lost 2-1 so we know that this won’t be easy, but we are going to do our best to try to win.”

Ferna also says the players are more comfortable in the formation and style the team has started with this campaign and the hard work put in pre-season is now paying off. He added: “We played lots last season but at the beginning of this new season we are playing in a different way.

“We are playing so well and we have a different attitude. This is the way we all like to play; the way the fans like to watch the games. This is important.

“I always say the Premier League is complicated, especially in December. It can sometimes be decided by who fights for the title most in December as there are a lot of games and sometimes teams have to change players.

“If you don’t have the players to change then it can become complicated. In December we will see who is winning the title race as I believe this will give a strong indication to what will happen at the end.

“On a personal note, I’ve been happy with my own form. I’ve been working very, very hard has helped me a lot with the double sessions in pre-season helping, too. Our team is working hard every day. That has helped us a lot in this first month.”

“Now we have to carry on our good start at Selhurst Park and then in the Champions League next Tuesday. It is one of the most important championships in the world and all of us have a dream to win this title.

“We have big players and so we need to have a better Champions League performance this season. We want to start that next Tuesday against Juventus with the aim to finish top of our group.”
