The Ivorian broke the deadlock in the 3-0 victory at the KCOM Stadium with a penalty, maintaining his 100% record from the spot and continuing his three-game run of netting on Boxing Day.
Speaking after the clash, Toure explained he had been celebrating his son’s birthday on Christmas Day with his family, and the youngster had told his father he would be on the scoresheet.
“It is always difficult to step up and take a penalty like that,” Toure declared.
“Yesterday, I talked with my children and it was my boy’s birthday. It was amazing: he told me I was going to score.
“I am very delighted because it is what my boy said.
“I am always delighted to play and help my teammates to entertain the fans – that’s what I like and that’s what I want to do: to be part of the team and winning is always a massive achievement.
“Any opportunity I have, I will take it.”
Toure was also pleased to have broken the deadlock in what had been a frustrating evening for City.
“The beginning was very tough,” he reflected. “They were playing well.
“In the end, we won and that’s the most important thing. We are very delighted.”
