Looking back through the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City's history...

1947

The first of two meetings that feature in today’s look back throughout City history for games on 1 February.

A crowd of 39,000 saw City overcome Spurs 1-0 at Maine Road thanks to Eric Westwood’s goal.

1958

West Brom are another side that feature twice against City on the first day of February, with the first game occurring on this day in 1958.

The Blues dispatched of the Baggies in front of 38.702 spectators at Maine Road with Billy McAdams notching a hat-trick and Colin Barlow (pictured) scoring the other in a 4-1 win.

1986

Fast forward 28 years to the other meeting on 1 February against West Brom and it was a similar outcome as City claimed all three points in a Division One clash.

Paul Power (pictured) and Gordon Davies were the goal scorers that day as Billy McNeil’s City won 2-1 at Maine Road.

1992

The second meeting between City and Spurs was played on the 1 February 1992, just months before the launch of the Premier League.

A crowd of 30,123 packed into Maine Road to watch David White score the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 win against the White Hart Lane-based club.

2006

The latest victory in games that City have played on this day throughout history with Newcastle United being the opponents in the 2005/06 season.

Stuart Pearce’s City side started on the front foot and took a deserved lead through Albert Riera in the 14th minute, who volleyed in from Joey Barton’s cross.

It was soon 2-0 when Andy Cole (pictured) headed home past Shay Given from eight yards out after latching on to Darius Vassell’s chipped cross.

Vassell, who recently announced his retirement from professional football, then got himself on the score sheet to seal a 3-0 win and send the majority of the 42,413 crowd home happy.
