1964  

On this day 52 years ago City lost 4-3 to Charlton Athletic in a thrilling encounter at the Valley. Ron Frost, Matt Gray and Derek Kevan scored but it was not enough for a point.

The result left the Blues in 11th place in the second division. Charlton were having a good season and after the win sat in fourth place.

1992

Luton Town were the opponents in this division one clash at Maine Road on this day in 1992. City ran out 4-0 winners with two goals from David White being the highlight.

The win left City in third place heading into the final phase of the season.

1994

First Division City’s hopes of progressing to the last eight of the FA Cup were scuppered by Bogey team – and Premier League outfit - Middlesbrough at Maine Road.

Craig Hignett bags the only goal of the game to send the Teessiders into the sixth round, much to the disappointment of the 30,462 fans who had turned up.

2014

Manchester City took on Chelsea on this day in 2014 in the FA Cup. The Blues came out 2-0 winners at the Etihad, Steven Jovetic struck after 16 minutes to put City on the front foot. 

The match winning goal came in the 67th minute as Samir Nasri tucked the ball away after he was played in by a wonderful David Silva reverse pass to ensure City progressed to the sixth round of the FA Cup.
