The gangly youngster soon shows ability with a football and 20 years later is offered a trial with a touring Manchester United side – a move that will eventually lead to him carving a career out with Rotherham United and Bristol City before joining the Blues in 1998 where he becomes a Club legend in the process, scoring more than 100 goals during a five-year stay.

Happy birthday, Goat!

A strike from Brian Kidd was enough to seal the win and keep pressure on league leaders Nottingham Forest who were four points ahead with 13 to play. The Blues would eventually finish in fourth place earning a place in the UEFA Cup first round.

Kidd scored 44 goals for City in his 98 league appearances and continues to this day to work in the City set-up as joint assistant manager.

2012

On this day in 2012 City faced Blackburn at home in the Premier League. The Blues were too strong for Rovers and recorded a 3-0 win, keeping the five point gap at the summit of the table.

Mario

A goal from Mario Balotelli in the first half put City in the driving seat. Sergio Aguero netted in the 51st minute and Edin Dzeko scored with ten remaining to secure the three points. The season would be remembered famously for the drama on the final day as Aguero scored in the 94th minute to clinch the title in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.
