City winger signs 18-month deal at Parkhead

Patrick Roberts has joined Scottish Premier League champions Celtic on loan for 18 months.

The 18-year-old, who joined City from Fulham in July 2015, made three appearances for the Blues this season, coming off the the bench against Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Tottenham.

He follows in the footsteps of John Guidetti and Jason Denayer in making a temporary switch to the Scottish giants, in a bid to secure more first-team experience.

Hoops boss Ronny Deila reflected:

“We have a relationship with Manchester City - a relationship that I have had for many years, since Stromsgodset.

“We trust each other in the way that we have developed players for them and if they can bring quality into our squad like Jason Denayer did and John Guidetti as well then it’s positive for both of us.”

One of the brightest young English talents, Roberts signed for City having made 19 senior appearances for Fulham. He had enjoyed title success at youth level with the Cottagers.

He scored his first goal for the Blues - an incredible solo effort - in a UEFA Youth League clash against Juventus.

We wish Patrick the best of luck on his loan move, and will keep you updated on his progress in our weekly Loan Watch feature.
