Fernando and Joe Hart admitted City dropped two vital points against Everton.

The Blues couldn’t break down the Toffees as the teams met for a third time this season and both players said the focus now shifts to Saturday’s home game with Crystal Palace.

“It was a very frustrating game,” said Fernando. “Our aim was to take three points but we couldn’t manage to break them down so we’re disappointed.

“As for the decision not to award a penalty, it was difficult for me to see if it should have been given and I’ll have to see it again later before I can be sure, but my gut feeling was that it should have been awarded.

“We wanted to win both our home games this week but we didn’t manage to take three points this time so we have to make sure we beat Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“Every game is like a final from here on and we have to fight hard each time we play. We need to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season so now we are only thinking of our next match.”

Hart was equally disappointed with the result, adding: “It was a really frustrating night, particularly as I had nothing to do in the second-half.

“Tim Howard made some really important saves in the second half and hopefully this ends up a point gained but we won’t know until the end of the season.

“It’s definitely two points dropped, but this game has gone now and we have to look ahead positively to Palace on Saturday.”
