2014

City’s pursuit of the Premier League title moved up a gear with a thumping 5-1 win over Spurs at White Hart Lane that put them on top of the table.

Sergio Aguero put the Blues on the way early, and after the break a penalty from Yaya Toure, goals from Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic – his first in the league – and Vincent Kompany cancelled out one from Etienne Capoue that briefly reduced the deficit.

2013

A trip to London one year earlier wasn’t quite so successful, with QPR belying their status as the bottom-placed team in the Premier League to hold City 0-0 at Loftus Road.

Roberto Mancini’s reigning champions had their chances, but were denied by the woodwork and superb saves from Rangers keeper Julio Cesar to frustrate Gareth Barry and David Silva.

2003

City eased to a 4-1 win over Fulham at Maine Road, with the goals shared around after Steed Malbranque had put the visitors ahead after only two minutes.

Nicolas Anelka, Ali Benarbia, Marc-Vivien Foe and Shaun Wright-Phillips were all on target for a win that secured the Blues in ninth place in the table.

1999

Gerard Wiekens grabbed his only goal in City’s year in League Division Two, the Dutch defender’s effort helping his side to a 1-0 win at Stoke.

Francis Lee’s hat-trick went a long way to giving City a 5-2 win over Wolves at Maine Road that kept them at the top of the league.

Tommy Booth and Tony Towers were the other scorers as the Blues stayed just ahead of Leeds in the race for the league title.

1966

Two goals from Mike Summerbee and one from Neil Young put the Blues to a 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough.
