The 19-year old forward has penned a three-year contract extension which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2020.
He told mcfc.co.uk: “It feels very good, I’m very proud – it’s amazing to sign for a club I love – I signed because I stayed here and see a future for myself here.
“I was really happy to make my debut here this season at Norwich – it was a proud moment for me and my family.
“I’ve been here for four years now and the club has changed a lot, we’ve got the best training facility in the world. The club is getting better and better and more competitive all the time – we reached the semi-finals of the Champions League which shows this one of the best teams in the world.
“I’m really excited to be seen as part of the future of this great club.”
Celina’s new deal caps off a remarkable season for the starlet who made his senior debut as a late substitute in the FA Cup win over Norwich City in January.
He went on to make two more appearances for the first-team and made his first assist on his Premier League debut against Leicester City, a glorious cross which Sergio Aguero headed in.
Bersant has regularly trained with the first-team this season under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini – a man who Celina has a special message for ahead of the final game of his three-year tenure.
“I really want to thank Manuel for giving me my debut, for helping me and giving my advice – I’m really grateful to him,” Bersant said, “I wish him all the best for the future, I’m thankful for all he’s done for me.”
Comfortable as a no.9, or in any of the positions behind the main striker, Bersant is also a set-piece specialist which he has proved on more than one occasion for the Elite Development Squad this season.
Celina has appeared on two occasions for the senior Kosovan national team – a nation which was accepted as a member of UEFA after a congress vote last week.
This means Kosovo and its club sides can now enter into UEFA club and national team competitions and, despite playing for Norway at youth level, Bersant has confirmed that he sees his international future with the country of his birth.
As for his club career, will Bersant stay at City next season or go out on loan to get a taste of first-team football?
He added: “I’ll wait and see what the new manager has planned.
“We’re going to have a long break now but I can’t wait to come back and get training again. There’s a derby in China and I’m really hoping to be part of that – it’s an exciting thing to be a part of.”
