Brahim Diaz was at his dazzling best for Spain but the Roja Under-17s were beaten on penalties by Portugal in the Euro U17s final.

Diaz produced some mesmerising runs, turning the Portuguese defence inside out on several occasions as he produced yet another stunning showcase of his talents.

Though Portugal took the lead through a fine strike from right-back Diogo Dalot on 28 minutes, Diaz levelled the scores within five minutes, arriving at the far post to nod past Diogo Costa.

Diaz continued to dictate Spain’s attacks and he ghosted past three players before seeing a low shot scrambled around the post by Costa on 53 minutes.

Both teams tired in the latter stages and the match eventually went to penalties – Diaz coolly chipped home his spot-kick to make it 4-4 but Spain went down 5-4.
