In Italy, Joe Hart played the full match at Turin’s Olympic Stadium as Torino beat Chievo 2-1 to keep pressure on the Champions League places in Serie A. Olivier Ntcham remained on the bench as Genoa beat reigning champions Juventus 3-1.
In Spain, both Samir Nasri and Marlos Moreno are currently unavailable for their respective clubs, Sevilla and Deportivo La Coruna, due to injury. Eliaquim Mangala’s Valencia continued their poor form with a 2-1 loss to Sevilla and they now sit just two points above the relegation zone.
Manu Garcia was not involved for Deportivo Alaves in their historic win at Villarreal’s El Madrigal.
Back to England and there was another midfield showing for Jason Denayer. The Belgian played a shielding role for David Moyes’ Sunderland at Anfield and helped his side to contain Jurgen Klopp’s in-form men until late into the second half.
Wilfried Bony was an unused substitute for Stoke City at Watford while Aaron Mooy’s Huddersfield face Wigan Athletic on Monday night.
