It was a battle between City’s loan stars at the top of the Eredivisie on Saturday as FC Twente and PSV Eindhoven played out a 1-1 draw.

Enes Unal, Bersant Celina and Yaw Yeboah all started for FC Twente while Oleksandr Zinchenko came on at the hour mark for PSV.

Unal scored the opening goal of the match, with a clinical finish under PSV keeper Remko Pasveer.

Celina, in the role just behind Unal, was in excellent form for Twente while Yeboah put in a solid showing before being replaced just before the final whistle.

After Zinchenko’s introduction, the Ukrainian had an excellent chance to win the match for Phillip Cocu’s PSV side. Cutting in from the right, Zinchenko curled his effort to the far corner only to see it crash against the bar.

The result leaves PSV in third and Twente sit in seventh.

Sinan Bytyqi’s Go Ahead Eagles beat league leaders Feyenoord but the midfielder is currently injured.

Shay Facey watched his Heerenveen teammates fall to a 3-1 loss at Sparta Rotterdam from the bench.

In the second tier, Brandon Barker and Ashley Smith-Brown started for NAC Breda and David Faupala was a second half substitute as their adopted club suffered a 2-1 loss to Ajax Jong.

Over to Spain now, where City players are scattered across La Liga.

Samir Nasri was instrumental in an attacking Sevilla display against Barcelona before he was taken off on his return from injury. The 2-1 loss to the Spanish champions means Sevilla fall out of Champions League places.

Colombian winger Marlos Moreno looked threatening for an hour in Deportivo La Coruna’s 1-1 draw with Granada before suffering a horrible knee injury, that required him to be stretchered off the pitch.

Eliaquim Mangala played the full 90 minutes in Valencia’s 2-1 defeat to Celta de Vigo in which ex-City striker John Guidetti scored the winning goal.

Manu Garcia was not involved in Alaves’ 1-0 win over Osasuna but the young midfielder will join up with Spain U19s this week as he continues his development.

Bruno Zuculini played 86 minutes for Rayo Vallecano in the second tier as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Murcia.

Over in Italy, Joe Hart’s Torino won 5-1 against Cagliari to go 7th in Serie A and put pressure on the European places. Olivier Ntcham was an unused substitute for Genoa in their 1-1 draw with Udinese.

Patrick Roberts, at Scottish champions Celtic, produced an exciting performance against Inverness in a 3-0 victory. The English winger wasn’t directly involved in the goals but his running proved effective throughout the afternoon.

Zac Faour was once again not involved for Midtjylland’s first team in their 5-1 victory at Horsens.

Returning to England now and after a brace last Monday night, Wilfried Bony continued his upturn in form with a strong performance in Stoke’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Jason Denayer came on in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role for the closing stages as Sunderland recorded their first Premier League win of the season. The Belgian proved an effective shield for the final 20 minutes as the Black Cats beat Bournemouth 2-1.

There was another full match for the Australian international Aaron Mooy as his Huddersfield team were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow promotion rival Birmingham City. The Terriers stay in third in the Championship.

Jack Byrne remained an unused substitute in Blackburn Rovers’ 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

George Glendon’s Fleetwood will play Southport in the FA Cup first round on Monday night while Kean Bryan, on loan at Bury, has been confirmed as out for up to three months with a thigh injury picked up in training.
