City’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday means they have now drawn their last three Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium.
Having dominated much of the play throughout the afternoon, Guardiola insists that with a slice of luck, his team will return to the Premier League summit soon.
He said: “The last two or three weeks it has been like this. The season is long but mentally and physically we will recover our situation.
“When there are 10 players there to defend it’s always difficult but we still created enough. Valdes had an amazing game like Stekelenburg did for Everton.
“Sometimes when you miss a point it’s a shame but we are trying to do everything to win the games. We’re attacking with 10 guys and we don’t let them run.
“We control the attack, outside and inside the box and we get to the second balls. Of course, in 90 minutes, there has to be some point when the opponent can arrive in your box and what happens here is that they punish you.”
After 11 matches in the English top flight, Guardiola is continuing to learn about the demands of the Premier League.
“Here, the games are always open because they put the long balls on to the strikers. They are playing for free kicks and throw-ins to make the most of the minimal mistake,” he said.
“When you have more chances and concede few you will have more opportunities to win the game and when other teams don’t attack it’s impossible to play any way other than to attack.
“We have to insist on playing that way but we have to be better in the boxes. When that happens the game will be 2-0 and the game will be over.”
Finally, the Catalan coach asserted that it will be beneficial for Vincent Kompany to join up with the Belgium squad after the club captain was called up by Roberto Martinez for the latest set of World Cup qualifiers.
He said: “He’s available to play and it will be good for him to get minutes. Hopefully he will come back fit. We’ll stay with two or three players so we can only hope the players come back safe.”
