Sergio Aguero admits he had a wry smile on his face when City were again paired with Barcelona in this season’s Champions League draw.

Now Kun is set to again face his best pal Lionel Messi who has so far been on the winning side on all four occasions.

“Honestly, it wasn’t a total surprise to see us drawn in the same group,” laughed Aguero.

“It must be fate, mustn’t it? The good thing is that it’s becoming a derby of sorts. Playing with one of the best teams of the world will also give us a better impression of our progress.”

“That’s a formidable frontline by itself – but it should be enough to simply say that the best player in the world is part of it,” he said.

“I think that the difference now is that our styles have become more similar.

“We’ll have to see how it plays out. Every match is different and we’re still at the beginning of a process that has proven beneficial, but yet to be established.

“There’s one thing I know for certain – it’s going to be quite a game and it’s one we’re all looking forward to.”
