Ronald Koeman’s first task at Goodison Park was to make the Toffees more compact and defensively sound and with seven games played, only Tottenham have a better defensive record than Everton.
Kun has had mixed fortunes against Everton in recent seasons, scoring just three goals in 12 matches against the Merseysiders – though seven of those games ended in a City victory.
“Koeman’s arrival was a big boost for them,” said Aguero. “I believe that he was able to strengthen the areas that Roberto Martinez had developed, regardless of their performances last season.
“This season, they’ve made a superb start and that’s why the Premier League is such an appealing prospect to any player.
“You can see how teams progress year on year; you see better football and everyone benefits from that throughout the division.
“I expect Everton to have a really good season and this has never been an easy fixture for us over the years and we expect nothing less this time around.”With the Toffees announcing Romelu Lukaku has recovered from a knock sustained during international duty, Aguero says if the Belgian is anywhere near his best, he could be a major threat.
“I think Lukaku is the full package,” said Kun. “He can play well all over the field and he’s got excellent aerial game.
“As usual, however, our focus is on doing our job well. If we do that, we‘ll have a great chance of returning to winning ways after the games against Celtic and Tottenham when we were not at our best.”
