Leroy Sane believes Borussia Monchengladbach will play with no fear when they take on City at the Etihad.

The former Schalke winger knows Monchengladbach well from his time in the Bundesliga and believes they will travel to Manchester looking to open their Champions League campaign in style.

Sane, who made his City debut against Manchester United on Saturday, could be in line for a starting berth against the German side who pushed the Blues hard in the two group stage meetings last season.

City won 2-1 at Borussia Park with goals from Martin Demichelis and Sane expects more of the same this evening.

“Monchengladbach are a very good team and play really good football,” said Sane. “In truth, I enjoy watching them play.

“They play with the ball on the ground and bring it out from the defenders to the striker and they have a high press, too. For me, only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund play better football in Germany – and being from Schalke it’s not good to praise to Dortmund too much!

The Borussia players will have respect, but not too much that they won’t believe they can win.

”They will come here with no fear because they will believe they can progress from this group so they are a danger to us, but we are at home and will be ready.”
