Boss Pep Guardiola makes five changes to the side that swept aside Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Wednesday for the Bournemouth clash, while skipper Vincent Kompany is named on the bench.

Starting XI: Bravo, Sagna, Otamendi, Kolarov, Clichy, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Sterling, De Bruyne, Nolito, Kelechi

Subs: Caballero, Stones, Kompany, Zabaleta, Navas, A. Garcia, Sane

How will the Blues line up?

The centre-back pairing should be made up of Aleks Kolarov and Nicolas Otamendi, with John Stones dropping to the bench for this one after his fine start to life at City. A talking point among the substitutes is skipper Kompany, who hasn’t played since last season’s Champions League semi-final second leg at Real Madrid on May 4.

Ilkay Gundogan starts his second consecutive game since returning from his knee injury and will look to link play throughout the midfield as he did so impressively against BMG. Fernandinho should be the deepest lying of the midfielders, with Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Nolito taking the attack to Bournemouth. Sterling started on the left against BMG, but the return of Nolito could see the 21-year-old switch back to the right.

With Sergio Aguero serving the second of his three-match ban, Kelechi Iheanacho will lead the line.

Bournemouth XI: Boruc, Smith, Francis, Cook, Daniels, Ibe, Arter, Surman, Wilshere, Stanislas, King.

Subs: Federici, Ake, Smith, Gosling, Gradel, Afobe, Wilson.
