So here’s a recap of why each player has been nominated...
Sergio Aguero
Aguero started the campaign with a goal after just four minutes in the 2-1 win over Sunderland and followed that up with a blistering hat-trick against Steaua Bucharest - despite missing two penalties in a 5-0 first leg victory.
Two more goals followed away to Stoke, one from the penalty spot and a clever header that left Shay Given no chance as the Argentina striker continued his prolific form - 142 goals from 182 starts - incredible.
Raheem Sterling
Sterling has been on the money from the word go and looks like a player reborn under Pep Guardiola.
The young England winger has shown the sort of potential that made him one of Europe’s most exciting talents and his two goals against West Ham capped a fantastic month for the former Liverpool star and, it’s fair to say, a very satisfying one for the player himself.
Mixing skill and energy with a tireless work rate, Sterling is back to his very best.
John Stones
Calm, assured and intelligent - it’s not hard to see why City were so keen on making Stones part of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Stones hasn’t put a foot wrong in his first five games for the Blues and is likely to get better, more assured and more confident as the season progresses - a fantastic start to life at the Etihad.
