With a quarter-final place up for grabs, the Manchester giants will face for the second time in just six weeks, with the Blues winning the September derby 2-1.
Now Jose Mourinho will face Pep Guardiola on the Old Trafford touchline once again with the Reds no doubt looking for revenge.
The Manchester clans have met six times in the League Cup with numerous high-octane duels along the way.
The first League Cup clash was in 1969 at the semi-final stage, City winning the first leg 2-1 at Maine Road and the second leg at Old Trafford ended 2-2 as the Blues progressing to the final.
The next tie was also at Old Trafford in 1974 with United, then in Division Two, beating City 1-0.
A year later City thrashed United 4-0 at Maine Road, again on the way to the final, but it would be 35 years before the next League Cup clash - another semi-final battle with City winning the first leg 2-1 at the Etihad but the Reds edged the return 3-1 to win the tie overall.
