As City’s perfect start to the 16/17 campaign rolled on at the Liberty Stadium, John Stones and Raheem Sterling took time to mark the impact Pep Guardiola has made on the squad.

“He’s very demanding” explained Stones.

“It’s good - it’s what we want - it rubs off in games. We’re demanding of each other and that shows on the pitch. We’ve just got to keep working hard and keep winning games.

“I thought the character of the boys was brilliant - the way we dug in and got the three goals.”

Sterling’s superb 77th minute strike oozed confidence as the England man breezed passed Kyle Naughton before an audacious side-foot finish to beat Fabianski. It’s this belief that the winger credits Guardiola with instilling in the make-up of the squad.

“It’s an ever-growing relationship with the manager - not just with me but with everyone in the whole squad” said Sterling.

“He keeps giving us confidence and his motivation talks are really good. Everyone’s working really hard to try and win football matches and long may that continue.”

It was yet another milestone day for Sergio Aguero who took part in his 100th Premier League win at the Liberty Stadium - a ground where he had been previously unable to find the back of the net.

Sterling had nothing but praise for the two-goal Argentine.

“He’s great to play with - he’s a player that scores goals - he’s a player who makes chances and creates chances. Credit to him, he’s a great striker and a great finisher.”
