The Blues missed the chance to close the gap on the Londoners with a 2-2 draw at Arsenal, as Pep Guardiola’s men twice surrendered their lead at the Emirates Stadium.
Sane admitted the result was disappointing, particularly as the table toppers had fallen to defeat the previous day.
Reflecting on the Arsenal encounter, the German winger conceded: “It was disappointing for us because the other scores were good for us – Chelsea lost.
“It’s very difficult (to catch them). They lost and it was very important for us to win the game (against Arsenal) and get three points.
“We only have one but we have to carry on.”
Sane opened the scoring in North London, racing onto Kevin De Bruyne’s excellent through-ball before rounding David Ospina and coolly slotting home.

The strike was the German’s eighth goal in just 13 shots on target, and his second against the Gunners this season.
Before the game, much talk had consisted of his battle with Hector Bellerin, and Sane declared he enjoyed it.
“He is a very quick full-back,” he stated. “I don’t think I’m faster than him but it was okay today!
“For the fans, it’s good to see how we run.”
City had little time to dwell on the result with Wednesday’s game fast approaching.
Sane believes his side are capable of returning to Manchester with a positive result from Stamford Bridge.
“On Wednesday, it’s an important game against Chelsea,” he continued.
“We can win and get three points.”
