The Brazilian striker, 20, spent two months on the sidelines having suffered a fractured metatarsal in the win over Bournemouth in February.
It was originally feared he could miss the remainder of the season but he recovered quicker than expected, returning to training earlier this month before making a 10-minute cameo in Thursday’s Manchester derby.
Afterwards, he told ManCity.com he feels good after his first game back and says he is ready to face Middlesbrough on Sunday.
“Good, good. I am feeling very well,” he said. “Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to win this game, but it’s awesome to be back and be able to play.”
“I only played ten minutes but physically I am well, adjusting myself quite well.
“Now I just need to keep on training and we shall see.”
Asked if he was ready to play from the start at the Riverside Stadium, he said: “Yes, yes I feel very well and in shape.”
Jesus made an immediate impact on Thursday, with his movement inside the area causing United’s defence all sorts of problems.
And he put the ball in the back of the net in the dying seconds, only to see the assistant referee flag for offside, denying him a famous moment that would have sealed three points.
But rather than dwelling on what could have been, the Brazilian says it was a good feeling to be reminded what scoring in a top-level game is like.
“I am sad, because the goal was offside,” he said.
“But apart from that, it’s great to be back knowing I could score.
“This gives me a lot of confidence to carry on and taking this into the next games. I know I can carry on doing, what I was doing before and what I like the most, which is play (football).”
