The Blues are well-placed in fourth spot with games in hand over third-placed Liverpool but with the majority of City’s remaining fixtures at the Etihad, Guardiola is hoping familiar surrounds and the supporters can help his team over the line.
“We have six games left and four of them are at the Etihad so we depend on our fans helping us as much as possible,” said Pep.
“Tomorrow is the first of those home games and it is important that we take three points towards qualifying for the Champions League next season.
“Manchester United are a good side. They are a good rival, with good quality in their squad and they have been on a long Premier League run without defeat so we know how difficult this will be.
“Our win at Old Trafford earlier in the season is a fact, but the way we play every game is what we should talk about.
“We should analyse our performance game by game, rather than what happened in one game.”
The Blues’ boss added that of the teams battling for the remaining two Champions League berths (assuming Chelsea and Spurs are as good as qualified), it will be the sides that make the fewest mistakes who will finish in the top four.
Said Pep: “The team that fails the least in the final few games will go to Champions League with Tottenham and Chelsea.
“As for this season, we still have a lot of hard work to do. On a personal level, I have been managing nine years and this is my first without a trophy.
“It had to happen one day and it happened this season and it will happen again if I manage for a long time. But there are a lot of teams in Europe that won’t win anything this season.”
After the disappointment of Wembley, Pep revealed his players are slowly recovering from the loss to Arsenal, adding: “Today was better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than today.
“The semi-final is over, it’s in the past. We played to win, we were better, but we didn’t win, so congratulations to Arsenal. “
