A host of Manchester City players loan stars were involved in matches across the world this weekend. Here's your weekly roundup of how they fared.

Pablo Maffeo played as Girona drew 2-2 with Atletico Madrid in the Catalan side’s first-ever La Liga game,

Newly-promoted Girona went 2-0 up on what was an historic occasion after a quick-fire double from former Middlesbrough forward Cristhian Stuani.

Antoine Griezmann was then sent off for the visitors – but they managed a stirring fightback, with goals from substitute Angel Correa and Jose Maria Gimenez making it 2-2. 

Aleix Garcia, Marlos Moreno and Douglas Luiz were all unused substitutes.

Thierry Ambrose bagged a penalty as NAC Breda lost 4-1 at home to PSV Eindhoven.

Manu Garcia, Paolo Fernandes, Pablo Mari and Angelino also started the match, with Thomas Agyepong coming on in the second half to make it six City loanees involved.

The result leaves NAC bottom of the Eredivisie table after two games.

Closer to home, Joe Hart played as West Ham lost 3-2 at Southampton.

The England ‘keeper conceded a cruel 93rd-minute penalty, leaving the Hammers without a win from their opening two league games.

Bersant Celina played the full 90 minutes as Ipswich Town lost 2-1 to Premier League side Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday.

Angus Gunn was in goal for Norwich for their 4-2 defeat away at Aston Villa. The Canaries now sit 17th in the Championship table.

Rodney Kongolo came on for the final 20 minutes as Doncaster Rovers drew 3-3 with Blackpool on Saturday, before starting Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Hull in the Carabao Cup. 

Across the pond, Yangel Herrera starred as New York City beat New England Revolution 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Jonathan Lewis.

The result was NYCFC’s third win in succession, leaving them second in the Eastern Conference, five points ahead of third-placed Chicago.
