The Blues, along with the rest of the Premier League and Championship clubs, enter the competition in the new year for what is a fourth opportunity to lift silverware.

When is it?
The draw takes place on the evening of Monday 4 December, before Slough face Rochdale in the last of the second round fixtures.
What time is it?
The draw gets underway at 7pm and will be broadcast live on both BT Sport 1 and BBC 2.

What’s the format?
64 teams will be drawn at random, meaning anyone can face anyone across the 32 ties.
With teams from the Southern Premier League and Conference North still in the hat, City could be drawn against a fellow Premier League outfit or one of the competition’s minnows.

The third round fixtures are scheduled to be played over the weekend of the 6 January 2018, though the date and kick off time are yet to be confirmed.
