John Stones has given City a Christmas boost by joining the squad for training ahead of the busy festive schedule.

Stones had been out since pulling his hamstring in the 2-0 win at Leicester in November and is gradually stepping up his return.

The 23-year-old centre-back was in superb early-season form, with his defence and distribution helping City to the Premier League summit.

He even scored three goals in the Champions League as City qualified for the last 16 as group winners.

Our clash with Bournemouth may come too soon for the England man, who is not yet in full training, but with trips to Newcastle (December 27) and Crystal Palace (December 31) following swiftly after before a home game with Watford on January 2, boss Pep Guardiola will welcome extra defensive options.
