Kyle Walker says there’s no chance of complacency creeping into the Manchester City squad ahead of the trip to Swansea on Wednesday.

A stellar run of form has preceded the Blues’ visit to the Liberty Stadium and another win would set a Premier League record of 15 consecutive victories, but the right back declared there will be no let-up in approach.

City have built an 11 point lead at the top of the table and Walker expects his team to continue with the intensity that has got them over the line in hard fought encounters against West Ham, Southampton and Huddersfield.

“We won’t be complacent against Swansea,” said the 27-year-old.

“The senior members of the dressing room and the management definitely won’t let us take it light-heartedly.

“We need to keep our foot on the gas, keep going and hopefully that will see us through.”

So expect a City team at full-throttle, then and one that is full of confidence.

Morale is high in the camp after the 2-1 win over nearest rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford and  wants to utilise that against a Swansea outfit he expects will pose a tough test in front of their own supporters.

“It’s going to be difficult,” he added.

“It is always a tough place to go and they play some good football, but we’re full of confidence off the back of the United result and we need to take that confidence into this game.”

Victory in the derby saw City equal Arsenal’s record of 14 successive Premier League wins, though the Gunners’ run stretched across two seasons.

Pep Guardiola’s men now stand on the cusp of breaking yet another record, knowing three points against the Swans would be enough to set a new milestone.

Walker draws positives from that, but echoes his manager’s sentiments, that record-breaking should not alter the focus of preparing for each and every game in the same diligent manner.

“It’s always good to be breaking records,” said the England international.

“It’s full credit to the lads and the coaching staff, but we prepare for each and every game as it comes and we’ll see where it gets us.”
