The victory was City’s 15th consecutive league win this season – beating a record that the club had shared with Arsenal going into the game.
The Spanish midfielder capped a superb man-of-the-match display at the Liberty Stadium by scoring two goals.
And El Mago admitted setting the new record was a ‘special’ moment for the club.
But he added that City would not dwell on the achievement with the players’ attention already now focused on Saturday’s tea-time clash with Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.
“Of course, it is special when you win so many games,” said David Silva.
“It’s important for confidence and our confidence is high at the moment. We are very happy.
“After the derby, to play in that way three days later was so difficult. We did well.
“We are happy with the three points.
“We didn’t talk about the record before the game to be honest.
“We go game by game to win and you saw that today.
“Apart from the victory, we are playing really good football. For that, the fans are enjoying it and we are happy for that.
“On Saturday, we play Tottenham and we have to be focused. They are a very good side so we will see.”
