Lukas Nmecha has been included in the matchday squad for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester City.

The striker was also named among the substitutes for the fourth round victory over Wolves and is one of a host of Academy graduates who could possibly feature against the Foxes.

Born in Germany, Nmecha was scouted shortly after his arrival in England and has been at the Club for a decade, scoring with regularity at every level.

A talented forward, he is has been utilised on the flanks, but with ice-cool composure in front of goal, it is the No.9 position in which he excels.

He proved as much as part of the U18 squad, netting 20 times as they topped the U18 Premier League in 2015/16, while last season he was top scorer in the FA Youth Cup with 11 goals, including hat tricks in both legs of the semi-final against Stoke.

Injury ruled him out for a short spell at the beginning of the current campaign, but when available he has captained Simon Davies’ EDS and found goals easy to come by.

He announced his return from injury with a second-half hat trick against Derby County, a performance which was rewarded with a place on the bench against Wolves.

He repeated that feat only a few weeks later as he inspired a fightback against Spurs with another treble.

Lukas has also made his mark at international level and was part of the England U19 squad that won the European Championships in 2017.

Nmecha played a crucial role in this success, scoring a last gasp winner in the semi-final and the only goal of the game in the final.
