The 19-year-old became the first player in Premier League history to score and assist on his full debut during Wednesday’s win at West Ham United.
His display at the London Stadium continued his rapid upward trajectory. Over the last 18 months, he has won Olympic Gold, a Brazilian league title and finished 2016 as Brazil’s top scorer having been handed the No. 9 shirt by Tite back in September.
A move to the Premier League would be daunting for most teenagers – but Jesus says his temperament means he doesn’t feel the pressure.
“I am cold and have been since a very young age,” he said. “Everyone that saw me growing up, knows that.
“Of course I have feelings, but I am cold and that helps me a lot to deal with pressure and not feel any at all.
“I deal with things in a very normal and natural way.
“Of course I make mistakes and I have made a few - it’s normal to make mistakes on the pitch and everyone does it - but I take it as something natural and I don’t allow it to get in my head.
“My family helps me a lot - my mother as well, and I appreciate that a lot. I would rather be a very tranquil person than to allow the pressure to impact me.”
There were suggestions Jesus could struggle with the weather in England – but his performance in the FA Cup win over Crystal Palace, where he set up City’s opener with a brilliant turn and pass, saw the doubts recede.
Jesus was seemingly unaffected by the hailstorm that ensued during the second half, with his work rate and desire to help defend catching the eye of fans and pundits.
He believes he has settled quickly and says the help he has received from his teammates has been key to helping his transition.
“It is very cold,” he joked. “I was also told this winter is not actually the coldest ones, so I am impressed.
“I had the chance to see the snow and so did my friends, we love it. It’s a great experience, never mind the weather.
“Before I decided to move here I asked about it. Fernandinho and Fernando helped me a lot, specially Fernandinho, and they have been helping me a lot along with their families.
“They have welcomed me very well here and they have been amazing with the language barrier.
“Even the food is great!”
